NewsBreak is a U.S.-based local news and community platform delivering personalized local content to over 40 million monthly users. Users check the app daily for neighborhood news, community updates, and stories that matter to them.
The challenge: balancing monetization vs. user experience

The solution: native ads engineered for NewsBreak
NewsBreak integrated the Moloco SDK with native reel-style ads that Moloco built specifically for NewsBreak's format. The ads blended into the content flow instead of interrupting it.
The partnership also included dedicated support from Moloco's US growth manager, head of supply, product team, and customer engineers. When NewsBreak had technical questions, they got answers in hours. When they needed guidance on their monetization strategy, Moloco's team showed them how to strengthen attribution with video SKOverlay and guided them toward app open placements as another revenue opportunity. The app open ad placement appears when users open the app.
The results: incremental revenue without compromise
NewsBreak gained significant additional daily revenue that didn't exist before, without compromising user experience. This success gave them confidence to expand to more ad types, and a playable ad integration is now in development.
